Brazil: The December pork exports decreased compared to last year

The volume and value of exports of Brazilian pork for December 2013 were less than in the same month last year.

ABIPECS, in December 2013 , Brazil exported 37.3 tons of pork , which is 7.7 % lower compared to 40.45 tons , exported in December 2012 . The total volume of pork exported from January to December 2013 , reached 517.3 tonnes from 581.5 tonnes in the same period last year , indicating a 11 percent drop in the external supply . for December 2013 totaled $ 100.6 million , up three percentage points lower than the figure for the same month in 2012 , when the figure was $ 103.65 million . The total cost of pork exports in the period from January to December 2013 decreased by 9.12 % compared with the figure for 2012 .

Average price of pork in December 2013 amounted to $ 2,694 per ton, down by 5.13 % compared with the same month of the previous year , when the average cost was $ 2,562 per ton. Overall, the average price of pork in the period January- December 2013 amounted to $ 2,627 per ton, down by 2.16 % compared with the same period in 2012 , when the figure was $ 2,571 per ton .
