Russia bans meat imports from Lithuania and Greece

From the point of view of the assortment of meat products and the level of prices of major changes will not, - says the head of the executive committee of the National Meat Association Sergey Yushin. Meat products from Greece comes in minimal quantities. But Lithuania has an important place in the import of chilled beef. "For five months of the year in Russia from Lithuania was delivered 3.6 tons of chilled beef. This is a small amount, but it has a share of 25 percent in supplies from the CIS and far abroad" - cited figures Yushin.

However, for the Russian market, this amount is not significant and will be replaced in retail products from Lithuania Belarusian, Ukrainian and Brazilian goods.

Recall that in March this year Rosselhoznadzor already introduced a ban on meat imports from European countries: for chilled pork and beef from Spain and the Netherlands, in April - restrictions on the supply of frozen beef and pork from Spain. Moreover, Rosselkhoznadzor has repeatedly warned that it can be severe restrictions on the supply of fresh meat from the EU due to a lack of an effective system of veterinary inspection.
